The large building in the foreground of the left-hand side is Wisteria House (demolished), then the sign announces the Kings Arms Inn, which is still a distinctive feature of this part of the A4 Bath Road. Almost invisible from this camera angle is what is now Hollywood Road, and then we see the village smithy (with a cart outside, and a variety of signs, the largest and highest advertises Rogers Pale Ales). On the bridge over Brislington Brook runs the tram to Hotwells - the only route that serviced Brislington (the terminus was just around the corner to the right) - this tram is number 218.

The photograph is believed to have been taken by Fred Viner, and the postcard published by Viner & Co., Publishers. Bath. The front carries the title "Brislington, Bristol." and the reference number "120". See our notes for more information about this photographer and postcard publisher, and their work in Brislington.
