The earliest postcards of Sandy Park Road show four large trees at the top, here only one remains. The large shop sign on the left-hand side of the road reads Elson / Newsagent / Stationer / Tobacconist / Circulating Library / Church Goods /Birthday Views & Picture Postcards. Elson was one of Brislington's prolific picture postcard publishers. On the right-hand side (from the bottom of the hill upwards) there are signs for Butt's Stores (with W H Butt above the door), Hodders Cash Chemists, Macfarlane & Son Fish Game & Poultry Dealers, and Sweetman.

The photograph is believed to have been taken by Fred Viner, and the postcard published by Viner & Co., Publishers. Bath. The front carries the title "Sandy Park Road. Brislington." and the reference number "1223". See our notes for more information about this photographer and postcard publisher, and their work in Brislington. Earliest known picture: before 3 June 1918.
